Dry Weather in the Northeast

2015 has been pretty dry across parts of the Northeast, especially around the New York area. Here are some of the latest precipitation deficits so far this year:

Central Park: -8.44″
La Guardia: -7.28″
JFK: -5.07″
Islip: -8.17″
Bridgeport, CT: -7.70″
Newark, NJ: -6.40″

U.S. Drought Monitor

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, MODERATE Drought conditions have crept up in a few spots near New York and places just to the northeast.

Rain on the Way!

The weather loop below shows appreciative moisture moving into the Northeast in association with the remnants of Hurricane Patricia. Interestingly this storm will be intensifying as it meets up with a storm system/colder air moving in from Canada.

Severe Threat Wednesday

According to NOAA’s SPC, there is a MARGINAL risk of severe weather on Wednesday in dark green from South Carolina to parts of the Northeast.

5 Day Precipitation Forecast

According to NOAA’s WPC, the rainfall forecast through 7AM Sunday, suggests nearly 1″ to 2″+ possible across parts of the Northeast.
