FULL-TIME METEOROLOGIST
Praedictix is seeking a full-time Meteorologist to join our on-air team. This role serves as a key member of our broadcasting division and will focus on producing and recording daily weather content for a variety of platforms and audiences. The ideal candidate is passionate about meteorology, excels at translating complex weather concepts into engaging and understandable stories, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will combine strong scientific knowledge with exceptional communication skills and a genuine enthusiasm for connecting with viewers. Job Description
Title: Meteorologist
Status: Exempt
About the Role: Responsible for producing and broadcasting daily weather videos for local, national and international clients. Additional duties and responsibilities include consulting work such as writing forecast reports, briefings, hosting webinars, and on-site consultation.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- 4-year degree (B.S.) in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology or equivalent coursework.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in meteorology or similar industry.
General
- Must be able to produce and broadcast dozens of daily local, regional, and national weather videos. This includes coverage for many different areas of the country as well as international coverage.
- Must be able to communicate the forecast for a variety of different climates fluently and proficiently in English. This includes, but is not limited to, severe weather, winter weather, and hurricane coverage.
- Ability and drive to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and embrace flexibility. This can’t be understated.
- Ability to effectively explain complex meteorological concepts to diverse audiences, including non-experts.
- Must have exceptional communication skills both verbal and written–must adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
- Ability to write detailed forecast reports, briefings, and blogs.
- Must be able to follow a production schedule and meet deadlines throughout a shift.
- Understands that this job entails non-traditional work hours. Working on weekends, holidays, overnights, and evenings (2nd/3rd shift) are part of this role.
- May be asked, on occasion, to work on a scheduled day off or adjust a shift for emergent staffing/weather situations (i.e.: hurricane coverage, coverage for illness, etc.). This is infrequent.
- Must be able to work in-office or on location when required and have access to reliable transportation.
- Must be able to arrive at the office or on location, when required, regardless of weather conditions. Accommodations may be offered during times of challenging weather conditions.
Physical
- Must be able to talk and stand for long periods of time in a brightly lit studio environment with many screens. On-air and/or consulting shifts typically range from 5 to 8 hours, but may be extended if there is a need.
- Requires excellent vocal clarity and hearing ability to communicate effectively during broadcasts and client consultations.
- Ability to move freely around the studio, including walking, bending, and reaching, as well as adjusting positions frequently as needed during broadcasts.
- Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate broadcasting equipment, weather graphics systems, and other related technology.

This includes wearing appropriate business attire and appropriate grooming during broadcasts, client meetings, webinars, and any public-facing events. The employee should demonstrate an understanding of how their appearance reflects both their personal brand and the company’s image, ensuring that they are always well-groomed and dressed in a manner that instills confidence in clients and viewers alike.
- Willingness to do what is needed in the moment to benefit the organization (regardless if this falls under job description). Ability to “rise to the occasion.”
- Consistently meets deadlines and delivers high-quality work, even under tight schedules, challenging shifts, and shift turnarounds.
Technical
- Working knowledge of computers, including the use of Gmail and Google Tools (i.e.: Google docs), Zoom, and MS Office Suite.
- Good understanding of social media platforms such as Facebook and X.
- Good understanding of weather forecasting and modeling tools and websites such as the National Weather Service.
- Ability to appropriately present in front of a green screen.
- Ability to analyze radar products.
Optional Skills (Nice to Haves)
- Certification from the American Meteorological Society or National Weather Association
- Experience in a national broadcast environment.
- Experience with international forecasting.
- Hurricane/tropical weather coverage experience.
